Great Opportunity for us to buy a SOUND SYSTEM for WINNING SOULS.

For many years, I have dreamed of having our own powerful sound system for preaching the Gospel both outdoors and in gymnasiums. Because we refuse to let a lack of equipment stop me, we have been borrowing, renting, and scrounging sound equipment together to do it for years.

However, a unique, limited opportunity just presented itself.

Another missionary is leaving the country and is selling a pair of barely used (six month old) powered JBL PRX 725 speakers. These are 1,500 Watts each and could be the Main Speakers of our sound system. With 3,000 Watts of output, I could easily preach the gospel to over 1,000 people outdoors and up to 3,000 indoors.

To buy these brand new locally would cost $3,370. The seller is asking $2,390 for them.  This is a really great opportunity.
Sound equipment is very overpriced in the Philippines because it is difficult to import things, but this is a bargain! If it seems like a lot of money, how much are the thousands of souls we could reach for the Gospel worth?
These speakers are only up for sale for a limited time and other people have been looking at them. Please prayerfully consider donating for us to own these and win more souls for Jesus with them!

We Are now Feeding Little Kids!

IMG_3250Through a great new partnership with Center of Life Ministry and Pastors Joshua and Emi Hernandez, we are now feeding about eighty children who come to the Refuge Youth Center for church.

These kids live in poverty in a dangerous squatter neighborhood right behind the Refuge.  Every Sunday morning the kids who come to Pastor Joshua’s church at the Refuge get to leave with a fresh, nutritious meal as they are fed both physically and spiritually.IMG_3289

Through your financial support, God is doing an exciting new thing here and fighting child poverty in the Philippines. Thank you for being a part of it.

Going to Africa

When I was just a twelve-year-old boy I answered an altar call at youth camp and I had a vision of going to Africa. Ever since that moment I knew I was going to be a missionary. However, I still have not yet been to Africa, so when Dr. Jack Tuls invited me to accompany him on a Bible College planting trip to Mozambique in October I was thrilled to say yes. Dr. Jack has planted hundreds of Bible schools around the world and a large percentage of them are in restricted nations. I have traveled with him to many nations planting these Bible schools and we have seen amazing miracles on these trips. Our objective is to visit three cities and start schools in each of them. I expect God to do great things in Africa, but I will need your financial support and prayers to go.

Giving to Baganga

We recently were able to return to Baganga (about a six hour drive) to take a big load of donated clothes and toys to distribute at Faith Tabernacle Church.  They also asked me to preach on Sunday morning, and in that service God instantaneously physically healed almost everyone who came to the altar for prayer.

We were able to give out over 120 toy and clothing bags to the children there, and also gave many clothes to the adults too. The children were so overjoyed to receive nice toys and clothes.

For those of you who don’t remember, over two years ago a category five super-typhoon named Typhoon Pablo hit Baganga and took hundreds of lives including the pastor’s wife. It nearly destroyed their town and heavily damaged this church. Through your support, we were able to rebuild the church and the parsonage and restore hope to these precious people. Although there has been much progress, many of the people of Baganga are still trying to get back on their feet. We are committed to keep helping these people, and are going back again to minister to them in December.

Awesome Youth Camp in Marihatag

Altar Filled at Youth Camp in Marihatag

I was recently able to be a part of the team of missionary guest speakers at a youth camp in Marihatag, Surigao for the “Our God Reigns” youth camp. Many of the campers were from remote tribal areas. Every service the altar was packed with about 200 youth as they were saved, transformed, and filled with the Holy Spirit!

The Holy Spirit was moving so strongly that teenagers were falling out in the power of God everywhere. It was one of the most refreshing and anointed camps I have been a part of in a long time.

Back on the Radio

DJ Matt on 104.3FM The Edge Radio Davao

We kicked off a new season of the Cutting Edge Show this month. The show is currently live during prime time Thursday nights. On my evangelistic show we talk about current events and always bring a biblical perspective to the show while bringing a salvation message. I always enjoy going on the air to preach the Gospel to of the Kingdom of God to people. We are having plenty of good feedback from the listeners.

Right after praying the prayer of salvation with my listeners on my most recent show,  I received this text message,

“Thank you Lord for accepting me again. Thank you Jesus for your Blood. God bless you DJ Matt.”

I have been broadcasting on 104.3 FM Edge Radio Davao for about five years now. It’s amazing how many people we are able to reach through the media in a city of two million people.

Invited to Mozambique, Africa

I am so excited to announce that my mentor and spiritual father Dr. Jack Tuls invited me to travel with him on another short-term missionary trip in October. This time we are going to Mozambique, Africa. I have dreamed of going to Africa as a missionary since I was just a boy. I can’t wait to go to this continent to establish new Bible schools for the Kingdom of God. I will need about $2,500 above our normal missionary support to go. I will fly from the Philippines across the Indian Ocean and we will find contacts in three cities there to establish new Bible schools. Please prayerfully consider supporting this trip as October is coming fast.

The Refuge Events

Worship with Alwood WIck

We are still holding Worship Events at the Refuge Youth Center with great testimonies of people being refreshed and touched by the Lord.

Worship with Kim and Tina Villanueva

We have guest worship leaders come in regularly. Our most recent event had people from five different churches and two other ministries attend. Our vision is to be a refreshing watering hole for other ministries to come, have fun, and get filled up with the Lord through worship.

The Refuge is also home to two local churches that will still operate while we are in the USA. Please continue to pray for the Refuge to operate smoothly while we are away.

Kapalong Campus Ministry

We were recently given the wonderful opportunity to minister at the Kapalong College of Technology, a two hour drive from Davao City.

When I preached, they were very attentive and when I gave the altar call, EVERY single person came forward to get saved, many with tears streaming down their faces. It was WONDERFUL!

EVERYONE came forward for the Altar Call, many with tears streaming down their faces.

The youth were so excited and testified afterwards how God touched them tremendously. We love what God is doing among the youth in the Philippines.

UP Next: Nabunturan

The “Refuge Out” evangelistic concerts are targeting Nabunturan next. We are hoping to reach a lot more people than we did with the Trento Concert. We learned a lot in our past concert and we intend to reach as many lost souls as we can. I am hoping to do a preliminary scouting trip very soon to work out the logistics. Right now we are hoping to have the concert in September depending on the decision of the key pastors that we are working with like Pastor Jerry Casidsid.

Like many places in Mindanao, Nabunturan was heavily damaged by Typhoon Pablo in December 2012. Many years before that, we preached at Pastor Jerry’s large church in a big building filled with young people. Unfortunately, that building was totally destroyed during the typhoon and now the church has been meeting in a small house for almost two years.

We are praying and believing for God to bring restoration to these faithful churches and pastors who quietly go unnoticed by the rest of the world despite overwhelming circumstances. We are praying for our concert to add scores of newly saved young people to the local churches and bring new life and excitement to the pastors for the Glory of God.
