With the Refuge, we have a unique opportunity to reach the subculture of the underground music of the youth. We recently hosted Musician’s Hour, which is a music night for professional musicians to come together and fellowship and hear about Jesus. Many of these paid musicians are playing in nightclubs and bars, and with our ministry we are able to be a life line to these bands that would normally never be accepted in a traditional church. We encourage them to play their loud music and showcase their talents to each other, but we unashamedly preach the Word of God and the Gospel to them.
The Refuge is Now Hosting Four Ministries
The Refuge is becoming a ministry hub. We have recently opened the doors on Thursdays and Fridays to a youth group needing a temporary home. This means that we now have three churches using the Refuge besides the monthly Youth United Prayer Gathering.
That means four ministries are now using the Refuge for services. The United Prayer Gathering is an awesome prayer movement to unite the pastors and church leaders of various denominations to pray for Davao City. They also recently invited me to serve on their leadership council. We are so thankful to have the Refuge Youth Center to facilitate the move of God here in Davao City.
