Her Jaw Grew Out Right in Front of Me!

While driving a ministry team between cities, someone told me that a young lady in my vehicle named Lovely needed healing. She had a deformed jaw from a dentist’s mistake. Her jaw was out of place and it restricted her breathing. They explained that a normal windpipe has the passage about the size of two fingers, but hers was now about the size of a pinky finger. I started to pray for her while driving, but told her I would pray for her once we reached Davao City. About two hours later I was unloading their suitcases in front of a hotel when the Lord reminded me, pray for her now!

Throwing away all ministry protocol, I laid hands on her head in the street and began to pray. She got slain in the Holy Spirit and started to fall down in the street. I caught her and held her up for a while and realized she was really out. I had to lift her into the back of my SUV where she stayed under the power of the Holy Spirit. I sat in the front seat and continued to pray for her as the Holy Spirit did a deep work in her.  After that, She went out in the power of the Holy Spirit a second time for maybe 5 or 10 minutes.

Then she peacefully said, “Kuya (brother), I feel my jaw moving!” I then commanded the jaw to grow out and go to its normal position by the Stripes of Jesus! I watched her jaw grow and her face change right in front of me! I almost could not recognize her face after I prayed. The whole team said her face changed! She went to a doctor about a week later and he said her jaw changed and asked her what happened. She told the doctor a missionary prayed for her and God healed her! Praise God!

Indian Ocean Report

We went on a miracle-filled trip to Mauritius, Seychelles, and Reunion Island. In each island, God helped us to locate the right pastors through divine appointments. Each of the pastors we worked with had been praying for Bible school materials but had not yet found what they needed in the French and Malagasy languages. On Mauritius, the pastor took us to the head of his denomination, who not only approved of the materials, but was bouncing for joy that we had it in the Malagasy language because he needed it for 68 churches he oversees in Madagascar. He also oversees 83 churches on Mauritius.

In the Seychelles, the pastor of the Spirit-filled church also accepted the materials and said that he would send the Malagasy version to his friend on Madagascar who is overseer for 1,000 churches! We also ministered in their Bible study where several people were healed. One lady I prayed for had a severe headache for over a year. When I prayed for her she let out a loud shriek as demons left her. After her freedom, the headache was totally gone! This was just one of the many healing miracles we experienced.

On Reunion Island, the pastor had us preach in both Sunday morning services, and showed us the classrooms they had already prepared for a Bible school, but were just waiting for the right materials before they started it  It is amazing to be lead to the right place at the right time! Thank you Jesus!

Formerly Crippled Boy Can Now Walk!

In my last newsletter, I reported that several people were healed while ministering in Polomolok. When I wrote my last newsletter, I did not report that during the ministry time, I prayed for a little boy named Reuben who could not walk. He was born prematurely and had not developed the ability to walk even though he was three years old. When his parents handed him to me my heart broke for him. He looked at me and cried in anguish with sad eyes because he could not play with the other children like a normal little boy.

When I prayed for him one of his feet straightened a little bit, but he did not walk well immediately. He took about seven steps and fell down. This bothered me– a lot. I left that church with a bittersweet feeling in my heart. I felt happy for all the other people who were healed, but left a piece of my heart broken there with Reuben. I continued to pray for his healing every day for almost a month. Right before I left for the Indian Ocean, and after my ordeal with the rebels, his family contacted me and sent me pictures showing he is finally standing and walking— and playing with other kids! The parents said the healing started in that service in Polomolok!
Hallelujah!

Running from Communist Rebels

While doing ministry in Davao Oriental, I stopped to meet with my pastor friend who is 76 years old at his family farm on the main highway. Just after we met with each other, one of his family members came running towards us, gripped in terror screaming unintelligible words at us. We finally deciphered that she was saying the NPA (communist rebels) were coming over the ridge and she wanted us to run! Rebels here are known for kidnapping foreigners for ransom. I quickly turned my SUV around and lined it up to go in the opposite direction. Then we hurriedly got my pastor friend into the back of my vehicle as his two daughters tumbled inside after him with their shoes flying everywhere. I waited for a few seconds for his son and son’s wife (the women who was screaming) to get inside, but they weren’t coming. I then felt a strong urgency that I couldn’t delay another second, so I left. We raced for their home town about two hours away.

On the way there, I was low on gas and made a bad decision to buy some unleaded gasoline for my old Ford. Unfortunately, the gas attendant put diesel in my tank in the confusion. Unlike America, you are not allowed to touch the gas pump at gas stations. I normally watch the attendants closely, but felt it was wise to stay behind my tinted windows this time. After I delivered the pastor and his family home safely, I started on another route home. My vehicle started running terribly after that, and I had no idea why. About three hours after the close call with the rebels, I received a call from the pastor’s family saying just a few seconds after we fled, five men with guns took their brother hostage, robbed him of everything (including his clothes).

They also set up a false checkpoint (ambush) on the highway and shot and wounded a policeman. The policeman and his partner drove off a cliff to escape! The Army finally came and ran off the estimated 300 rebels, and our friend was released safely. Thank God I was protected, and the pastor and his daughters were spared too! After that, It took me two days to limp my diesel-infested SUV home. It overheated and blew the radiator hose off twice, and I fixed it myself with my tools and water from the jungle river. Unfortunately, my SUV still needs a lot more expensive repairs now and it really is quite disrupting to my traveling ministry. However, I am most thankful to be alive. Praise God!

Miraculous Healings in Polomolok

I recently preached in Polomolok, South Cotobato at Destiny Church that if you are wildly obedient to God, you will see wild miracles. We saw several notable healings. On lady’s eyesight instantly cleared up as she was healed of cataracts. Another lady came to church with intense pain in her shoulders that left her as I prayed for her. The next day her daughter contacted me to thank God that the pain never came back. Praise God! These wonderful miracles are a result of your partnership with us. Thank you for your support.

Woman Who was Blind in One Eye Healed!

Today (Sunday) started out as “one of those days.” I woke up late, and got lost trying to find a remote church. On the way to the remote church, the cashier at 7-11 managed to spill scalding coffee all over my hand. Everything inside me wanted to scream from all the pent up fatigue of ministry and culture shock.

Since I was already halfway to Tagum City, I decided to give up on finding that church and went ahead to visit a family there who had their father in the ICU of the public hospital from a motorcycle accident.

That’s when my day started getting better. I was able to not only pray for him, but one thing led to another under the favor of God and I was eventually wearing scrubs and a mask praying for all the children in the Pediatric ICU. I watched a mother’s eyes light up with joy when her infant diagnosed with pneumonia woke up and made eye contact with her. I cannot put into words the pain I saw throughout that ICU and the entire hospital.

This precious woman told me she was blind in her right eye from diabetes and requested prayer. As I prayed for her, Jesus healed her and she received her sight back!

On the way out of the hospital I felt led to go to a distant building which happened to be where many of the cancer patients stay. I ended up praying for about six of them. One of their visitors said she was blind in her right eye from diabetes and asked me to pray for her. After I prayed for her, she received her sight back! Hallelujah!

Many of these precious people are cancer patients and their visitors. I had the honor of praying for most of them.

Here I am writing this drinking a cold juice at a coffee shop (I learned my lesson earlier) in Tagum marveling at what God did today. It doesn’t matter how the day starts: It can still be a great day!

Not Your Typical Used Car Salesman

1978 Mitsubishi Lancer

This is my former 1978 Mitsubishi Lancer that we affectionately named “Sporty.” For the past six years, I have had many great memories with Sporty doing ministry trips and even using her as an ambulance during the toughest time of my life. We realized that buying parts for a 38 year old vehicle had grown to be too expensive for our meager missionary budget so I reluctantly decided to let her go.

In the Philippines they don’t put the same value on vintage vehicles as in the USA, so I had to sell her for only $1,500 to a nice man named Donnie who happens to live on the other side of the Island of Mindanao. He traveled 12 hours by bus to buy Sporty and fell in love with her the first time he saw her. Donnie had broken his forearm in a freak soccer accident and was not even able to drive at the time. When he finally was able to drive the car across the Island, he brought a mechanic friend with him to drive and help Sporty make the treacherous trip from Davao City to Iligan City.

I was getting all choked up yesterday as they were about to drive away and God reminded me that I had originally bought that cool-looking car to attract people, strike up conversation, and lead them to Jesus. I asked Donnie if I could pray for him before his trip and he agreed. Standing outside the car under the shade of a tree, I laid hands on his broken forearm and commanded the arm to be healed and the pain to go by the Stripes of Jesus and in the Name of Jesus! The pain immediately left Donnie’s arm! After that I asked the two men if they would like to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior and they instantly agreed. I had them repeat a prayer of repentance and salvation with me and their faces glowed with big smiles after they prayed. Donnie even thanked me today for praying for them after they safely reached Iligan City.

Praise God for his miracles and salvation!

Goodbye Old Friend

Goodbye Old Friend.

Our House Almost Caught on FIRE!

The flames can been seen rising above our townhouse building.

The flames can been seen rising above our townhouse building.

Just two days after helping the victims of the Isla Verde fire, we almost became fire victims ourselves. We were suddenly disturbed to hear our neighbors pounding on our door. There was a big fire raging just ten feet behind our house! The fire had completed consumed the two houses behind us and was quickly approaching our rented townhouse.  I stayed behind to rescue some electronics, and see if we could do anything to stop the fire. I rebuked the fire and prayed, “Fire, you cannot touch our house in the Name of JESUS.” Our unsaved neighbor later told me the fire was raging right for our townhouse and the wind suddenly changed.

This was the view from our back window after the Fire Department got the fire under control.

The fire was so close that Elijah’s bedroom windows and my office windows were too hot to touch. During the commotion, one of our brilliant friends broke the main water pipe behind our house and sprayed it towards the fire which held it at bay until eleven fire trucks responded and put out the fire. It was an absolute miracle our house didn’t catch on fire!

Elijah was so happy to see 11 fire trucks respond to our neighborhood. I was excited too!

When Elijah finally came back, he was so excited that the fire trucks came to visit our house. He exclaimed, “Fire Truck, Daddy, Fire Truck!” I suppose I was excited to see the fire trucks too, but in a different way. Thank God for his protection, miracles, friends, and fire trucks!

Good Report from Vanuatu

Jack Tuls and I had a miraculous time in Vanuatu. We went there with the goal of starting three new Bible Schools, one in Efate, one in Espiritu Santo, and another in Tanna Island. We started our spending the first few days in Port Vila, Efate without any fruitful contacts. After we traveled to Espiritu Santo (Holy Spirit) Island, things began to change. Through a series of events, we met a 74-year-old man who was one of the key Christian leaders in all of Vanuatu. The outstanding miracle is He was given land four days before he met us for the purpose of starting a Bible College in Espiritu Santo! It was remarkable to see the divine favor and the timing of God working in our trip.

After we had this divine appointment, we proceeded to the very remote Tanna Island where we met with an influential Chief who was also the pastor of a Foursquare Church. He graciously had Jack preach in the church and several people were healed. Three of them had back problems instantly healed and another woman with stomach pain was healed. He said he would like to start a Bible school after we helped his missionary start a school in Efate!

On the last day of the trip, we returned to Port Vila, Efate and met this missionary, a great man of God, from Papua New Guinea. He already planned to start a Bible school in January, but had no curriculum. He gladly accepted Jack’s curriculum and asked if we had it in French too. He has a vision and desire to start Bible schools in French-speaking New Caledonia too. Within minutes, Jack and I gave him the core of the curriculum for the schools already translated into French stored on Jack’s computer. From that meeting alone, we established a school in the capital city and we may have started more schools in another nation.

Through God’s help, we were able to make miraculous contacts with the key people to start three Bible Schools in Vanuatu and possibly multiple schools in New Caledonia. Praise God!
